बोधकथा
मूल्य श्रमप्रतिष्ठा
राजा कुवरसिंह श्रीमंत होते. त्यांना कुठल्याही गोष्टीची कमतरता नव्हती. परंतु त्यांचे स्वास्थ्य चांगले नव्हते. ते सतत चिंतीत राहत असत. कितीतरी वैद्यांनी त्यांच्यावर उपचार केले परंतु त्यांना काहीही लाभ झाला नाही. राजाचा आजार वाढत गेला. संपूर्ण नगरात ही बातमी पसरली.
एक म्हातारा राजा जवळ गेला. तो म्हणाला, "महाराज मला आपल्या आजारावर उपचार करण्याची परवानगी द्यावी."
राजाने त्याला परवानगी दिली. तो म्हणाला," महाराज तुम्हाला एखाद्या सुखी माणसाचा सदरा मिळाला म्हणजे तुम्ही स्वस्थ व्हाल!"
म्हाताऱ्याचे बोलणे ऐकून सर्व दरबारी हसू लागले. मात्र राजा हसला नाही. त्याला वाटले इतके दिवस इतके उपचार करून झाले आता हाही एक उपचार करून बघू.
राजाच्या सेवकांनी सुखी माणसाचा शोध घ्यायला सुरुवात केली. त्यांनी पुष्कळ ठिकाणी शोधले परंतु त्यांना सुखी माणूस भेटला नाही. प्रत्येक माणसाला कोणत्या ना कोणत्या प्रकारचे, कोणत्या ना कोणत्या गोष्टीचे दुःख होतेच.
सैनिक आणि सेवक कमी पडले असेल असा विचार करून राजा आता स्वतःच सुखी माणसाचा शोध घेण्यासाठी बाहेर पडला. खूप तपास केल्यानंतर तो एका शेतात जाऊन पोहोचला. ज्येष्ठ महिना सुरू होता. भर दुपारच्या उन्हात शेतकरी शेतात काम करत होता. राजाने त्याला विचारले, "का रे बाबा तू सुखी आहेस का?"
शेतकऱ्याच्या डोळ्यात तेज निर्माण झाले. चेहऱ्यावर आनंदी हास्य होते. भर उन्हातही त्याचा चेहरा चमकत होता. तो म्हणाला," ईश्वर कृपेने मला कोणतेही दुःख नाही." हे ऐकून राजा खूश झाला कारण त्याला शेवटी सुखी माणूस सापडला होता. आता त्याला सुखी माणसाचा सदराही भेटणार होता. तो त्याला सहज मागता येणार होता. सदरा मागण्यासाठी राजाने शेतकऱ्याकडे पाहिले मात्र शेतकऱ्याने फक्त धोतर घातलेले होते आणि त्याचे अंग घामाने डबडबले होते.
राजाने त्याला प्रश्न केला, "तुझ्या सुखी असण्याचे रहस्य काय? अशी कोणती गोष्ट आहे जी तुला कायम सुखात ठेवते?"
तेव्हा शेतकरी म्हणाला, "महाराज हे जाणून घेण्यासाठी तुम्हाला एक दिवस माझ्याबरोबर राहावे लागेल."
राजाने मान्यता दर्शवली. दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळीच शेतकरी उठला व आपली भाकरी घेऊन कामाला निघाला. राजा ही त्याच्या पाठोपाठ उठून निघाला. त्याने दिवसभर शेतकऱ्याचे निरीक्षण केले. शेतकऱ्याचे शेतातील काम पिकांना पाणी देणे, गुरांची देखभाल, नांगरणी करणे, विहिरीचे पाणी काढणे, कुदळ चालवणे ही सर्व कामे राजा बघत होता. दुपारच्या वेळी त्याने जेवणाचा डब्बा काढला आणि राजालाही जेवणाचे आमंत्रण दिले. राजालाही भूक लागलेली होती दोघांनी मिळून जेवण केले. राजाला आश्चर्य वाटले रोज पंचपक्वान्नाचे जेवण त्याला नकोसे वाटत होते. आज मात्र त्याने भाजी भाकरी पोटभर खाल्ली.
संध्याकाळ झाल्यावर राजा शेतकऱ्या सोबत घरी आला तिथेही त्याचे निरीक्षण करणे चालूच होते. रात्री च्या जेवणानंतर शेतकऱ्याला शांतपणे झोपलेले बघून राजाला समजले की श्रमाच्या कारणामुळेच हा शेतकरी सुखी आहे.
त्या दिवसापासून त्याने आराम चैन सोडून परिश्रम करण्याचा संकल्प केला. व तो प्रत्यक्षात आचरणात आणला आणि काय आश्चर्य थोड्याच दिवसात राजाचा आजार नाहीसा झाला.
कथेतील बोध:- शरीर स्वास्थ्यासाठी शारीरिक व मानसिक श्रमाची गरज असते अशा श्रमाला योग्य प्रकारे प्रतिष्ठा देऊन श्रम केले तर माणूस आजारी पडणार नाही व हताशही होणार नाही .

Value "Labor Dignity"
King Kuvar Singh was rich. They lacked nothing. But his health was not good. They were constantly worried. Many physicians treated him but to no avail. The king's illness worsened. This news spread throughout the city.
An old man approached to king. He said, "Your Majesty, allow me to treat your disease."
The king allowed him. He said, "My lord, if you get a happy man's shirt, you will be healthy!"
Hearing the old man's speech, all the courtiers started laughing. But the king did not laugh. He thought that he had done so many treatments for so long, now let's try another treatment.
The king's servants started searching for the happy man. They searched in many places but did not find a happy man. Every human being is suffering from some kind of thing.
Thinking that the soldiers and servants must have fallen short, the king now himself went out to look for the happy man. After much investigation he reached a field. It was a month of june. A farmer was working in the field in the afternoon sun. The king asked him,
"Are you happy dear farmer?"
The farmer's eyes sparkled. There was a happy smile on his face. His face was shining even in the sun. He said, "By God's grace I have no sorrow." The king was happy to hear this as he had finally found a happy man. Now he was going to meet the Shirt of a happy man. He could easily ask for it. The king looked at the farmer to ask for Shirt, but the farmer was wearing only a dhoti and his body was drenched in sweat.
The king asked him, "What is the secret of your happiness? What is the one thing that keeps you happy forever?"
Then the farmer said, "You will have to stay with me for a day to know this, my lord."
The king approved. The next morning the farmer got up and went to work with his bread. The king followed him. He observed the farmer all day long. The king was looking after all the work of the farmer in the field like watering the crops, taking care of the cattle, ploughing, drawing water from the well, driving the spade. At noon he took out the lunch box and invited the king to have lunch as well. The king was also hungry and they both had lunch together. The king was surprised that he did not like the royal meal every day. Today, however, he ate his simple food- vegetable bread.
Even when the king came home with the farmer in the evening, his observation continued. Seeing the farmer sleeping peacefully after dinner, the king realized that the farmer was happy because of his hard work.
From that day he resolved to leave his comfort and work hard. And he actually put it into practice and what a surprise, within a few days the king's illness disappeared.
Meaning of the story:- Physical and mental labor is needed for body health, if labor is done with proper dignity, a person will not get sick and will not become hopeless.
